

Type in any subject and you will find thousands of photos. I suggest you start with a Google Image search. Starting with a simple picture background is a fun and easy way to get started. Some of these background packages may also include “props” you can use in the foreground, such as a (fake) news desk.

This makes the scene look even more believable because as you switch cameras the background changes. Each camera in your studio can be assigned to the background with a similar angle. Some background packages will even include multiple images or movies, each with different angles of the same scene.

However, a movie of a beach with a slowly swaying palm tree or moving waves may create a more realistic scene. Your talent in front of a simple image of a beach may create the setting that you like. The types of backgrounds available vary in complexity. Many websites sell or create images or movies that are specifically made for chroma backgrounds.

There are several possibilities to consider. I receive a lot of questions about where to get backgrounds. Wirecast does not include any backgrounds but it’s easy to import your own. The chroma backgrounds that you insert can be a movie or a picture. Broadcast from your new high quality news desk or live from the beach. They allow you to insert an image or video behind your talent, allowing them to virtually enter a set or location.
